depends on what you want to do. as for bars cafes, etc etc we have plenty of very good ones. enjoy your stay in our resort
a large beer starts at around 1.50€ food like everywhere has gone up. for example a jar of the supermarket own label jam went from 70cents to 1.06€ Meals out are still good value though. Look around find what you like and see if the price is good for you. enjoy our island

living here I'm not sure how much you need to bring. The local shops are more expensive than the supermarkets on the outskirts of Arrecife. Spar shops have some offers and are not that much more usually. I would say buy our brands they are cheaper than the UK ones. Like newspapers I dont buy it but I believe the sun is around 2e say one pound forty - better get a free Gazette or Buzz magazines you will see them around, and are in English. That is unles your Spanish is good enough to read the papers then Canarias 7 is a good one.

The Sands beach resort is not seen from the webcam of course, the hotel at the far end of Cucharas beach is Gran Melia Salinas our 5 star hotel where King jaun carlos sometimes stays.
and if I'm right one up the road oppite Cucharas commercial centre not as far as legends though.

sorry to tell you that there are 10,000 unemplaoyed on our Island. still if you have experience you should be able to find something. might be a matter of trudging round though. it may help if you van speak spanish and german. and dont forget you need a work visa.

No place to equate with B & Q. Can onylygive my own opinion. Go to Ferretteria Tias in Tias or they have a branch on the outskirts of Playa Blanca too. They sell paint, tool, etc as well as lots of other thing (pictures, cutlery, crockery, and electrial goods to name a few.
If you want Dulux paint there is a shop, (its on the San bartolome road opposite deiland (on the othjer side of the dual carriageway)

some freinds of our stay there usually. they came ust after it opned but had already booked to stay elsewhere. they went to see it and felt it looked fine. on the strength of that they are coming back to it in September this year. provided I can remember I will get their opinion of the 'new' place and post for you
no direct buses from CT to Playa Blanca. You go to Arrecife and then on from there. all in all its about 25 miles or so.
buses in CT have a few stops all close to main hotels or the shopping areas.

There are 10,000 out of work on our island so it depends on what work you'd be looking for. also unless you work for English folk then you need Spanish and also german would help.
Retiring here, easy enough, just come. Again Spanish helps with local authorities (who usually dont have much English) I found ym computer translator programme a Godsend. I could type out what I wanted to do or say then translate it into Spanish print it and take it with me.
Managed to buy a car, pay rates, buy a dog and get his injection etc with it.
our climate has been described as 'eternal spring' it is more or less. the wind can be cold in winter but the temp. doesnt normally (has been known of course) to fall below around 16deg (61).
hope this might help.

I worry about your question of Nationalities: We are a Holiday Island and we attract all nationalities, so you will meet folk from all over the world.
Novemeber is no busier than most mon ths outside the main school holiday periods so there should be plenty of space.

GO AWAY AND LEAVE US ALONE WE DONT WANT YOU ON OUR FAMILY ISLAND
Its one of the very best hotels on the island, the central Atrium is breathtaking. A honeymoon to remember (I think its a Hotel not self catering. King Juan Carlos has stayed there and we sawa wedding there, oh boy the money shone through. enjoy it if you go.
Plenty of good places to eat.
The Bay looks nice, some freinds stayed there recently and were happy enough. hope you enjoy it.
not a lot in CT there's Lacost, Vera Moda and a new shop up the road behind Caseys on the beach (Cucharras beach) that has Uk lines.
More shops in PDC at the Centre there.
heck that all depends on what you want to eat. some set meals for example cost just 8€ for three copurse and there is the chinene buffet (Siglo 21) in CT that offer a buffet for around the same.
as for days out, best hire a car and most entrances are 8€ per person, organised trips by companies like Thomas Cook, Thompson are expensive.
two, one in PDC and one Matagorda.
just wondered why youm asked, kids???
yep, try Last Minute travel they have an office on the Avenue de las Canarias or even Atlanta tours (you'll see there leaflet ont eh gorund. They do at the monet (20.11.08) off a trip to Timnanfaya with a 3 course buffet lunch for 15€ per person BUt there is a sales pitch/presentation for beddding and such. If you can put up with this then its a good trip because lunch is free and entrance to Timanfaya is 8€ per person anyway. I havent been on this trip but folk I've spoken to have.

changing very frequestly but the TV says 1.19 to the pound I saw an Indian shop offering to change for 1.17. thats about the best we can tell you at present.
I sincerely hope so, all parties should have a responsible adult with them. even 18 is too young really.
hi yes one just below saxo's and one Siglo 21 on the opposite side of the raod. both offer buffets.
the road is avenuida del jablillo (the one down to the beach)
Thank you and a Happy Christmas to you too. And Hope 2009 is good to you.
the beach shown is Cucharas and is a fine beach. The webcam is situated in a shop window. cant see anything wrong with that. Better the beach than a street view.
