2 years ago - Are there any independent operators for "Fire Mountain"?
If you do the free trip where they try to sell you bed/bedding, they tell you it'll take 3/4 of a hour-a hour? We were there nearly 3 hours!!

It's not high pressure selling, and the sdales staff are friendly. If you're interested in bed/bedding - then go, but I go on holiday to get away from this sort of thing!

Never, never again!
2 years ago - could any body tell me wat the axchange rate is for the £
Watching it everyday! Today was at 1.11! Yeah I know!

Bad! It's heading for 1 on 1!
2 years ago - Is it cheap to buy alcohol to bring home?
Been there! Not that much cheaper! Wanted to pick up a bottle of Jack Daniels. Discovered that Tesco's back in UK was doing not only a better offer - but cheaper! Suggest you look round our shops first to compare prices!

There's a big difference about duty free! There's Tax Free and Duty Free!

Duty Free applies to countries within europe (eurozone), and if the exchange rate (1.06 to the pound yesterday) doesn't improve, (which it won't), then you won't get much of a bargain!

Then there's Tax Free! This applies to countries outside the Eurozone! Here, you probably will find bargains!

How ever, we did find tobacco and ciggarettes were cheaper! But thay's probably down to the UK's high vat! But we don't smoke - so not much use!

Hope this helps!
2 years ago - can you tell me what the sand beach villas are like
Stayed across the road from the Sands! Took a look/see and can't say we were that impressed! Private beach? Huh! Pond more like! There is a english sports bar just across the road, which is family oreintated!Nice food! Reasonable too!

Looking for something a bit more lively, then try Cactus Jacks just down the road and turn left and end of road!! Very popular, pub quizes! Drinking shot games (which are a hoot) and dj is brill!

You will find many bars next to restaurants - EVERYWHERE! Try to explore! Can't say I was disapointed in any of the ones we went in! But they HAVE to be good, as there is so much competition! in the area, but if you're staying in the top end of CT, and don't want to walk too far home, then Cactus Jacks is the one!

Only down side of CT? When you pass shops/restaurants, they badger you to come in on nearly all of them - which gets tiresome!

You must do Teguise Market on Sundays! but it's BIG!!! You'll need half a day at least! If you like shopping, it's a must! Not all tat! some good stuff! Be prepared to haggle, or they eat you alive!!!

Local supermarkets are a rip off too! Find the local spars! The bigger, the better!

And take advantage of local buses! They're reliable and reasonable, and take you all over the Island! Playa Blanca IS A MUST, and much warmer than CT!

Have fun! I envy you! Sooner be there again than back in this cold, windy, miserable country!
2 years ago - Buses from CT to Playa Blanca
Takes about hour and a half! Change at Arriciffe, but you go through the countryside which is smashing!

Most buses are like tour buses, but you do get the occasional vandalised banger (that reminds you of home)!

Drivers all speak enough of English to get you there and get you back! Just look for the crowds by the bus stops! If there's a crowd, they're going your way!

Told the buses run quiet late (10ish)! We never found out as didn't want to get left stranded! But we did see them go by late! So - Up to you!

But better than doing excursions, cheaper! And much more fun!
