Last year two of us went for two weeks self catering and took £800 we ran out of money with three days of our holiday still left and had to use our credit cards, every year our food bills keep going up and we've noticed less and less people are going on holiday to Lanzarote so the prices go up even more. When is someone on this island going to realise that if you reduce prices more people will travel and spend more money. This year we're taking £1100 for two weeks but if it gets any dearer I'm afraid we won't be going again and will have to find a cheaper destination. In my opinion it all went wrong when they changed from the pesesta to the euro prices rocketed overnight.......................................................................

living here I'm not sure how much you need to bring. The local shops are more expensive than the supermarkets on the outskirts of Arrecife. Spar shops have some offers and are not that much more usually. I would say buy our brands they are cheaper than the UK ones. Like newspapers I dont buy it but I believe the sun is around 2e say one pound forty - better get a free Gazette or Buzz magazines you will see them around, and are in English. That is unles your Spanish is good enough to read the papers then Canarias 7 is a good one.
