In Playa Blanca - Asked by mattgriffin - 2 answers - 1 year ago
I am planning to go to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote with my young family in early April but I am concerned that we will be cold (or blinded by sand spray on the beach) because of the wind (my family like to spend lots of time on the beach). I have been warned that Lanzarote is extremely windy and that I should go to Tenerife instead. Is this true? On the other hand though I have heard that Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is quite sheltered and a lot less windy than other spots on the island (so maybe it will be OK after all). Can anyone tell me if this is correct, and whether I should be worried about wind in Playa Blanca in April?

If it is going to be too windy can anyone recommend a less windy, warm resort with a similar laid-back family-friendly vibe to Playa Blanca, and with good weather in early April?

Thanks!
Hi! We went to Costa Teguise last April which was close to Playa Blanca so I can only imagine that the weather was similar...some days were pretty windy, I guess maybe like an English day on the beach...bit blowy...lilo's etc flying about but nice respite from relentless heat!!! It was very hot...we went 13 April and was scorching, sun very strong because it is close to Africa and I am really dark skinned but burned badly even so...so you need lots of sun cream...evenings maybe a cardigan for kids but we ended up taking them off indoors as warm....outside probably will need something on your arms but sat outside on the beach and was comfortable in short sleeves at night....I was worrying like you but think you should take a few woolies but prepare for it being hot! Friend went there for xmas and was 220c and sunny every day and enjoyed the beach! Have fun!

Well I guess you have already been and come back, but the answer is it shouldn't be too windy. Certainly not like Fuetventura which is a picturesque island and very windy. Teneriffe is a horrible island full of timeshare reps who will pester you like mosquitos, only you can't use a spray to keep them away.

Playa Blanca will be (was?) hot and sunny and perfect for a beach holiday.
