Coming back to Lanzarote (Costa Teguise) for my 6th visit in Feb 2009.
My sister and niece are coming out with me. They really want to see Timanfaya, however, none of us are drivers and we do not have a tour rep at our apartments.
Does anyone know of alternative ways we can visit "Fire Mountain" that will not cost an arm and a leg! Many thanks!!! :)
Hi,

We have visited Costa Teguise many times and on our ritual of evening walks nearly always found leaflets from companies offering trips around the island(usually placed on walls outside restaurents etc).

They offer transport to the places on offer and i'd guess that the entrance fee is included in the price.

I have no idea what these companies will charge for the trip to Fire Mountain, but as i remember they all follow a similar 'booking' system - that is, they have a series of 'Pick up' points in the area, and you simply pay as you get on the bus - but the trip maybe part of a larger tour, ie; a north or south island tour.

They seemed popular so i guess that if you have no other way of getting to there, they may be worth a chance.

I'd also imagine that you may find leaflets from companies offering trips in the reception area of your accommadation.

Have a good trip.

yep, try Last Minute travel they have an office on the Avenue de las Canarias or even Atlanta tours (you'll see there leaflet ont eh gorund. They do at the monet (20.11.08) off a trip to Timnanfaya with a 3 course buffet lunch for 15€ per person BUt there is a sales pitch/presentation for beddding and such. If you can put up with this then its a good trip because lunch is free and entrance to Timanfaya is 8€ per person anyway. I havent been on this trip but folk I've spoken to have.

Hiya

I was in Costa Teguise last week and went on a tour to Fuertaventura, there is a guy and girl walking around giving out leaflets and there are always some left around the resort (the colour leaflets), we had a great day which was well worth the price. Also been to Timanfaya on a tour but with a different company, which was also a really good day out, look out for the colour brochures, well recommended tours, have a great holiday.

If you do the free trip where they try to sell you bed/bedding, they tell you it'll take 3/4 of a hour-a hour? We were there nearly 3 hours!!

It's not high pressure selling, and the sdales staff are friendly. If you're interested in bed/bedding - then go, but I go on holiday to get away from this sort of thing!

Never, never again!
